Trusting in the power of entrepreneurship in advancing the condition of the community, the University of Hawaii under State legislature established the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and E-business in 2001-and tasked to take control of the rudder is Dr. Rob Robinson, a former Harvard Business School faculty member and a Barry and Virginia Weinman Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and E-Business.
According to Dr. Robinson, PACE is a business development center dedicated to "rekindling the spirit of entrepreneurship" in the State of Hawaii. As an education component, they offer an undergraduate and MBA entrepreneurship curriculum. In addition, PACE engages in outreach activities through the UH Angels and holds business plan competitions to complement their social involvement.
In past summers, PACE conducted a boot camp for entrepreneurs who needed to expand their knowledge in business activities.
"We intensively give the students hopefully the tools they need and the perspectives that they have been lacking up until now," Dr. Robinson said. "It might be everything from developing your business plan further or even developing a business plan for the first time."
With the right set of skills and know-how, the PACE team surely holds the key in developing leaders of tomorrow.
