Their popularity never ceases. Nine years into providing the layperson with handy tips regarding the digital domain, Peter Kay and his radio show, Your Computer Minute, stand as strong as ever, proving the potency of their cause and the invaluable service they give to the community.
Kay, owner of several IT-based companies, shares his computer knowledge to listeners, utilizing a multi-media approach to spread his word further and more effectively. He firmly believes that their longevity stems from the fact that they help other people.
"That was my way of doing social entrepreneurship," Kay said. "I capitalized on the idea that everybody feels, not so much uncomfortable, but everybody knows that they're only using 10 percent of the computer that they paid for and everybody would like to get little handy tips to help them feel more intelligent, more productive, and know how to use their computer better.
"So what we're doing with it is we are helping people and by helping people it is strengthening the brand," he added.
This social-oriented endeavor may be his way of living up to his personal mantra. Kay maintains that success relates to how well one finds his or herself, not so much about financial or materials gains. To him, being able to follow the path that stands before him defines success.
And by heeding the call of public service and sharing his skills and knowledge to the less informed, he is well and truly on the right course.
