Founders of The Gift Foundation of Hawaii have one clear mission, to instill in the minds of Hawaii's young leaders a sense of philanthropy and willingness to give back to the community.

According to Jeff Arce, partner at The MacNaughton Group and a volunteer mentor for the foundation, young professionals should practice volunteerism and community giving early in their careers.

"They are off on their career and they're working a lot of hours and it's just to get them in front of you and say don't forget when you're successful that you've got to give back and maybe even before you're successful," Jeff said.  "Start on it now. Start thinking about it."

Jeff strongly believes that anyone who runs a strong and successful business should understand the necessity of giving back to the community.  He mentions that the success of a business points back to the support of the community.
One thought that Jeff lives by came from an employee at his grandfather's lumberyard.  The lumber clerk once told him, "If all of us really focused on helping everybody else, we wouldn't have to worry so much about helping just ourselves because other people would help take care of us."

The GIFT Foundation of Hawaii is one of the first charitable organizations in Honolulu run by young professionals that strive to promote giving and volunteering by young adults, as well as providing an outlet where people can learn about and contribute to Honolulu's different charitable organizations.
