Panda Travel CFO, Lydia Tsui, has donated and helped raise over $400,000 for the University of Hawaii's athletics department. A long-time supporter of her alma mater, Tsui believes that sports is an integral part of community development, her reason for choosing this area as her philanthropic focus.

"There was a little bit of difficulty on the sports program and I knew the sports program was very important to local people so we decided to help them with some of the equipment and some of the scholarship," she said.

As commendation for her contributions to the institution, the University of Hawaii honored her as a UH Distinguished Alumni.

Tsui's provident nature is also exemplified in business, even helping perceived competitors make it through the hard times. Six years ago, Panda Travel entered the internet realm and made available their online booking software to smaller agencies, helping them to survive the changing industry landscape.

"We teamed up ourselves with a lot of different smaller agencies," she said. "We help them survive and they help us survive."

Tsui said that building a good rapport with the people around her offers relief from stress which maintains her balance from a normally busy work week. In the 80s up to the mid 90s, she worked as CFO of her family business, real estate developer, and full-time employee for a property management company.
