"To get involved in the community is to get involved in your future."
These words reflect Hawaii Pacific University-SIFE president, Luke Tucker's provident nature believing that the organization's mission to empower individuals through education is a catalyst for change in the community.
According to Tucker, as a member of the community, there is no reason why one should not be active in "pursuing the best interest of friends and fellow citizens". He added that being a member of SIFE not only gets him involved in the community, it also widens his network and opens doors to a wide array of future opportunities.
"The SIFE alumna network is a vast array of professionals from countries all over the world," he said. "It is a valuable networking and business resource."
To Luke Tucker, a college-organization such as SIFE is an effective vehicle to put into practice what students learn in class. However, learning through the organization transcends that of a normal classroom setting where experience is limited.
Tucker and SIFE have been involved in several educational and fund-raising projects including BizKids where grades 3 to 8 pupils were given the opportunity to put up and operate their own business in the friendship bracelet industry. As if his executive position in the student organization is not enough, Luke Tucker also works for American Savings Bank and currently does his internship with Greater Good Radio.
