With the drive to achieve success, a lot of us work hard but get consumed by our jobs, sometimes forgetting the most important things in life.  However, founding partner of Watanabe Ing and Komeiji LLC, Jeff Watanabe, considers his career as a mere tool that he can use to benefit his life.

According to Watanabe his greatest challenge was a career change that seemed to have come too late in his profession.  But this did not pose to him as a threat.

His mother became instrumental in his decision by telling him, "You better do something if you're going to be unhappy because you know, you don't want to be unhappy the rest of your professional life."

He ended up changing his practice from being a litigator- to avoid dealing with other lawyers-to dealing company clients, and it proved to be the best move in his career.

Jeff Watanabe's involvement in more than a dozen for-profit and non-profit organizations also demonstrates how he uses his career only as a component to benefit his life.  Watanabe's most important commercial involvement is being an incumbent chairman of the board for Hawaiian Electrical Industries, which supplies power to 93% of the Hawaii electric public utility market.

His biggest non-profit involvement is running the multi-million dollar Consuelo Alger Foundation, which I personally have a connection to because I choose an organization that they support as recipient of Greater Good Radio's community program here in the Philippines.
