Jeff Chung truly believes in the influential power of the media, and its capacitating ability in shaping the people's hearts and minds for the common good-and this is what his company, KBFD TV, is about.
President and general manager, Chung acknowledges their station's main mission and vision which is to provide service to the community.
"My father didn't start KBFD to make a whole bunch of money; it was to provide community service to begin with," he said. "Although we are a for-profit corporation, it is in our philosophy to really help the community."
According to Chung, the company prioritizes public service more than anything else as part of its mandate.
"From the beginning, the role of a FCC-licensed TV broadcaster is to service the community and with that reasoning I try to, not so much for marketing purposes, but to try to help the community where I'm broadcasting in," he said. "If I can help local organizations promote their event, I'd rather do that than to do a national spot so to speak."
Jeff Chung's inclination towards helping the community reflects his goal of maintaining an equilibrium in his life.
"I think for anyone, whether you're in business or not, I think you have to find balance in your life and for me business is one thing," Chung said. He added that everyone needs to find symmetry and helping the community should be a big part of it.
